Snyder’s of Hanover Hot Buffalo Wing Flavored Pretzel Pieces are amazing and absolutely worth trying, especially if you love Buffalo sauce. This review is pretty simple: if you want a crunchy, salty snack that scratches the Buffalo wing itch, Snyder’s nailed it.
The bottom line: this is one of the best Buffalo-flavored snacks I’ve tried. They’re crunchy, salty, tangy, and bold without completely burying the pretzel underneath.
To understand why, we need to start with Buffalo wings.
I love Buffalo wings. There are just a few problems:
- I have to be at a restaurant to get them.
- They’re not exactly healthy.
- I’m eating a lot less meat these days. Yeah, this is a “me” problem, but there are a decent number of vegetarians and vegans out there too, or so I’ve heard.
Altogether, this makes enjoying Buffalo wings…difficult.
So what’s a guy supposed to do?
Snyder’s of Hanover has answered that with its Hot Buffalo Wing Flavored Pretzel Pieces.
Here’s the thing: Snyder’s nailed the flavor.
These pretzel pieces bring a massive—but not overwhelming—amount of Buffalo wing sauce flavor. Just as importantly, they pair that big Buffalo flavor with a notable and genuinely yummy pretzel taste.
That balance matters.
Any fan of Buffalo wings knows the sauce has to show up. Buffalo flavor should be tangy, zippy, a little sharp, and unmistakable. These pretzels deliver all of that. But they still taste like pretzels, which is important because the base snack is part of the experience.
Even if the pretzel flavor got drowned out, these would still be good. The fact that it doesn’t get drowned out shows that Snyder’s understood the assignment.
That big Buffalo flavor is especially important because so many Buffalo wing sauce-flavored snacks don’t bring enough of it. Some are simply underwhelming. Goldfish Hot Buffalo Seasoned Pretzels are one example, which is especially surprising since Goldfish Frank’s RedHot crackers are quite good.

That is not the case here.
These pretzel pieces taste both exceptional and accurate. In other words, the flavor itself is yummy, and it also actually tastes like Buffalo sauce.1 The seasoning captures the tang, zing, and overall bite of Buffalo sauce shockingly well. And yes, “tang” and “zing” are highly technical terms.
That accuracy is what makes this snack special.
Because they taste so much like real Buffalo sauce, Snyder’s Hot Buffalo Wing Pretzel Pieces genuinely scratch the Buffalo wing itch. When I’m hankering for Buffalo wings, I can grab a bag of these and feel like I’m getting close enough.
Between the excellent flavor, the crunch, and the fact that I struggle to put them down, Snyder’s of Hanover Hot Buffalo Wing Flavored Pretzel Pieces have earned a spot in the Snacks Hall of Fame.

While Goldfish Hot Buffalo Seasoned Pretzels aren’t worth your time, Goldfish Frank’s RedHot crackers are great and worth trying.
Frank’s is not the same as Buffalo sauce, but it’s very similar: Buffalo sauce is basically cayenne pepper sauce (like Frank’s RedHot) with butter or oil added. In other words, if you like that sharp, vinegar-forward flavor of Buffalo sauce, these Goldfish deliver.
If your goal is specifically to get as much Buffalo wing sauce flavor as possible, they are not as good as Snyder’s. But if you want a snack that prominently features a flavor that’s very close to Buffalo sauce, these Goldfish are an excellent option.
The Frank’s flavor is assertive and clearly present, but it doesn’t overwhelm the Goldfish cracker itself. The cracker adds complexity and balances the sharpness of the hot sauce with the light creaminess that cheese crackers can provide.
Buffalo Cauliflower
Buffalo cauliflower can be excellent.
In restaurants? Awesome. When it’s done well, I basically don’t miss Buffalo wings.
From the freezer aisle? Mediocre. Frozen Buffalo cauliflower can scratch the itch, but it’s never quite right. At that point, I’d usually rather just eat Snyder’s.
Buffalo Snacks I’d Skip
Goldfish Hot Buffalo Seasoned Pretzels
As I mentioned earlier, Goldfish Hot Buffalo Seasoned Pretzels are underwhelming and not worth your time.
First, the Buffalo wing seasoning is very mild. The bag says “boldly flavored,” which is simply untrue.
Second, the pretzel flavor is strong, but not especially compelling. It’s not bad, exactly. It’s a perfectly fine pretzel flavor. But if I’m eating Buffalo pretzels, I’d rather have pretzels drenched in Buffalo-style seasoning from a company like Snyder’s or Rold Gold.
Food Nerd Corner: Why Pretzel Pieces Are Clever
To you and me, pretzel pieces are a bite-size snack.
From a manufacturing perspective, though, bagging up and selling pretzel pieces is also a clever idea.
Think about it like this: inevitably, some pretzels are going to break on the way to the bag. From a customer happiness perspective, Snyder’s wants to minimize the number of broken pretzels that end up in a bag of whole pretzels, especially since some will break after they’re packaged.
Individually, broken pretzel pieces may not seem like a big deal. Cumulatively, though, they can add up.
I don’t have any inside knowledge of Snyder’s manufacturing process, but it’s easy to imagine how a snack like pretzel pieces could turn a production challenge into a product people actively want to buy.
And honestly? That’s part of what makes them great.
Instead of feeling like broken pretzels, Snyder’s Pretzel Pieces feel like their own thing: crunchy, intensely seasoned, and built for snacking by the handful.
In the case of Snyder’s Hot Buffalo Wing Pretzel Pieces, that “thing” happens to be one of the best Buffalo-flavored snacks around.
And that makes this snack all the more compelling: Snyder’s turned what could have been a production problem into something amazing.
- For example, I once tried a vegan popcorn snack with “Mexican street corn flavor.” Although the flavor was strong, it tasted nothing like Mexican street corn. In other words, the flavor was not accurate. Imagine ordering strawberry ice cream and having it taste like bananas. That would be a problem.
