Sonoma Creamery Cheese Crisps Deliver Big Cheese Flavor

Love at First Bite: What Makes These Different
Most cheese snacks are only mildly cheesy. Sonoma Creamery flips that. The moment I took a bite of their Cheddar Cheese Crisp, I fell in love. They’re everything I want in a cheese snack: bursting with real cheese flavor and satisfyingly crisp.
The magic lies in Sonoma’s use of cheese: it’s not just the first ingredient—it’s the second too. That much cheese is what allows these crisps to truly explode with cheesiness.
Cheese to the Rescue: Why Most “Cheese” Snacks Fall Short
Most other cheese snacks don’t go this far—you’ll sometimes see cheese as the second ingredient (like Goldfish), or even fourth (like Annie’s Cheddar Bunnies), but rarely both first and second. That’s usually for good reason: cheese is expensive, and it’s harder to work with than simpler ingredients like flour or oil.
You get what you pay for, though. Most “cheese snacks” only have a hint of cheese rather than a true cheese flavor. A few, though, actually pull this off!
That’s why I’m usually underwhelmed by cracker-style cheese snacks: they’re just not cheesy enough.
Sonoma Creamery clearly had people like me in mind. These crisps are built for anyone looking for a snack that explodes with the flavor of real cheese.

That Melted-Then-Crisped Cheese Thing
Two other ingredients help make these crisps great: brown rice and quinoa. Though they don’t add a ton of flavor flavor, but they do add a nice, light toastiness and a delightful crispiness.
Have you ever melted cheese in a pan and then allowed it to fry itself in its own oil? It comes out wonderfully crispy. Sonoma Creamery Cheese Crisps recreate that crispiness—and it’s thanks to the brown rice and quinoa.
The Catch (Why do the best snacks always have one?)
There’s a catch, though: because these lean so heavily on cheese, they’re high in saturated fat. A single serving—15 crisps—gets you to 25% of your daily value.
The key, then, is to moderate: I usually stick to 3-5 crisps and then move on. Easier said than done, of course, because these cheese crisps are so delicious.
No Weird Stuff—Just Cheese (and a Few Friends)
One other great aspect to Sonoma’s Cheese Crisps is the ingredient list—it’s simple and easy to understand. There’s nothing weird like TBHQ—just cheese, rice, quinoa, and garlic powder.

So far I’ve tried their Cheddar, Pepper Jack, and Habanero Lime. All excellent. Cheddar is my favorite, but I’d happily eat any of them—and I’m looking forward to trying the Parmesan and Pizza flavors next.
No Fridge, No Problem
These crisps have a subtle side benefit: they don’t need to be refrigerated.
That matters more than you’d think. Cheese tastes best closer to room temperature. Although you can eat cheese straight out of the fridge, the cold will dull its flavor and aroma.
Let’s say you want cheese right now, but the cheese is in the fridge and it’s still cold. You don’t want to wait, but eating cheese now wouldn’t be as enjoyable.
These crisps solve that problem. They have so much cheese flavor that they come surprisingly close to the real thing—no waiting required.
That’s what makes them more than just a snack—they’re a legitimate stand-in for actual cheese when the craving hits.
Straight to the Hall of Fame
These crisps are a home run. I’m so in love with them that—even though they’re new to me—they’re going straight into The Snacks Guy’s Hall of Fame.
Snack at ya later!
